Matchai Energy

What Matchai Energy is, what uses it, how your Energy is shown, your free daily dose, and what happens when you run low.

Matchai Energy is what powers the AI work Matchai does for you, such as building a listing from your photos. You find it in Settings → Energy.

Think of it like a phone battery: you only think about it when you are running low. Most of Matchai uses no Energy at all: messaging, search, your calendar, your contacts and your website never do. Connectors do not use Energy either, though they have a monthly price of their own (see Matchai Connectors).

How your Energy is shown

Under Your Energy, a battery shows what you have available right now. Below it, a short line tells you where you stand:

What you seeWhat it means
Plenty of Energy (green)Nothing to think about.
Healthy supply (green)Still well stocked.
Running low (amber)Time to claim your daily dose or top up.
Out of Energy (red)AI work cannot start until you add Energy.

Why it works this way

Matchai shows your Energy like a phone battery, not like a bank account. You can tell that you are running low at a glance, without doing any math, so your attention stays on your clients rather than on a balance. The details are there when you want them: under Usage, tap a row to see what an action used.

What uses Energy

Energy is used when Matchai's AI does work for you:

  • Creating a listing automatically from your photos and files, with Auto-magically create.
  • Importing a listing from its web address, with Quick import.
  • Smart steps in a workflow, the steps that use AI. In the workflow builder, they carry a Uses Matchai Energy badge. In closed beta
  • Your assistant: each conversation turn, photo edits you approve, and tasks it does for you on websites. Before a photo edit, the card tells you whether it uses a light, moderate or heavy amount of Energy. In closed beta
  • Studio videos made from your listing photos. In closed beta

Creating a listing by hand, with Manually, uses no Energy.

See what used your Energy

Under Usage, Matchai lists your recent AI work. A colour shows how much each action took: Light, Moderate or Heavy. Tap a row to see the details. View all activity opens the full history, by month and day, with filters for the assistant, listings, photos and video, and workflows.

If a job fails

You get your Energy back automatically for the work that was not done. The Energy set aside goes back into the item it came from, and the job shows as Refunded in your usage. There is nothing to do. A video works clip by clip: if you stop one, or it fails partway, you keep paying only for the clips already made, and the rest comes back.

Your free daily dose

Each day, you can add a little Energy for free.

Open Settings → Energy.

Choose Claim your free daily dose. The button then reads Free daily dose claimed until the next day.

Claim it every day to build a streak, shown beside the button. Skip a day and you do not get that day's dose, and your streak starts over. A new day starts at midnight UTC.

Your items

Energy comes in items: a Small box, a Bag or a Box. Under Your items, each one shows how much is left, and where it came from: bought by you, received as a gift, from your daily doses, or your welcome gift.

  • Welcome gift. Every new account starts with a free Small box.
  • Order. Matchai uses one item at a time. The item in use has a green ring. Drag a card to choose which item is used next.
  • Never expires. What you buy stays in your account until you use it. Used-up items disappear from the list.

To add more, see Matchai Store. To give an unopened item to a colleague, see Gifting Energy.

When you run low or run out

The battery turns amber and says Running low. You can keep working, but a large job may need more Energy than you have left. Claim your daily dose, or top up from the store.

When you are out, AI work cannot start:

  • Creating or importing a listing opens Out of Matchai Energy, with the store right inside it. Maybe later closes it.
  • Your assistant tells you it needs more Energy to keep talking, with a Top up button.
  • A Studio video tells you it needs more Energy than you have, with a Top up button.
  • A task your assistant is doing on a website stops before its next step.
  • A workflow stops at its next smart step.

Everything else in Matchai keeps working. Your listings, website, messages and calendar never depend on Energy.

In the Matchai app for iPhone and Android, you see the same battery, daily dose, items and usage, but no buying or top-up buttons.
