# Your business card

Your business card is a digital version of the card in your wallet. It lives at `matchai.co/c/yourusername`, and it comes with a QR code. Someone scans the code with their phone's camera, sees your card, and saves your contact in one tap.

Every professional account has one, and it is public from the start.

## Show your card [#show-your-card]

<Steps>
<Step>
Select your profile picture, then **My card**.
</Step>
<Step>
Hold your phone up. The other person points their camera at the QR code and opens the link it shows.
</Step>
</Steps>

Tap the QR code yourself to open the page a scanner lands on. Tap the card to turn it over.

## What is on your card [#what-is-on-your-card]

**The front** shows your name, your role and your brokerage, your site's address, your email and your phone number.

- Your role is the headline of your [Matchai Page](https://matchai.co/docs/guide/online-presence/matchai-page) when your Page is published and has one. Otherwise it is your job title.
- The site address appears once your [Matchai Site](https://matchai.co/docs/guide/online-presence/matchai-site) is published. If you use [your own domain](https://matchai.co/docs/guide/online-presence/custom-domain), the card shows it.

**The back** shows photos of your published listings. With fewer than two, it shows a QR code instead, inviting people to scan it to save your contact.

There is nothing to fill in on the card itself. It is a view of your profile:

- Your name, photo and job title come from **Settings → Profile**. Change them there and your card updates right away. See [set up your profile](https://matchai.co/docs/guide/getting-started/set-up-your-profile).
- Your phone number and email come from your professional details. When those are empty, your card uses the **Contact phone** and **Contact email** of your Matchai Site.

If Matchai says **Your card needs a professional profile**, follow its instructions: add a job title and a work phone number in **Settings**.

## What people see when they scan it [#what-people-see-when-they-scan-it]

The first screen shows your card, with your social profiles as round buttons under it. Then:

- **Message on Matchai** starts a conversation with you. See [conversations with guests](https://matchai.co/docs/guide/messaging/guest-conversations).
- **Save contact** adds you to their contacts.
- **Share your contact back** lets them send you their name and number.

If you have published listings, a second screen follows with your listings and, once your site is published, a button to visit it. At the foot of the card page, a small Matchai mark offers **Get your own Matchai Card**.

On your own card, **Message on Matchai** only reminds you that this is how visitors message you.

<Callout title="Why it works this way">
There is no call or email button on the card page. Your phone number and email are printed on the card in full, and they are saved with your contact, so the person has them for good rather than for one tap.
</Callout>

## Save contact [#save-contact]

**Save contact** creates a contact with your name, brokerage, job title, work phone, work email and photo. It also includes your social profiles, your site, a link back to your card, and your license number if your profile has one.

On an iPhone, it opens the Add to Contacts screen directly. On other phones and on computers, it downloads a contact file that opens in the contacts app.

## When someone shares their contact back [#when-someone-shares-their-contact-back]

A visitor chooses **Share my contact**, enters their name and mobile number, and confirms the number with a code Matchai texts them. They do not need an account.

You get a notification, **New connection from your card**, and the person appears in your leads, ready for a follow-up. See [contacts](https://matchai.co/docs/guide/contacts).

A professional who is signed in to Matchai does not see this option. When they choose **Message on Matchai**, you are added to their contacts and the conversation with you opens in their workspace.

<Callout title="Why it works this way">
The text code confirms that the number belongs to the person who typed it. A lead you can call back is worth more than one with a typo in it, and it is the only text message Matchai sends in this exchange.
</Callout>

## Send your card [#send-your-card]

In **My card**, choose **Send my card**. Your phone's share options open with the message "Here's my business card." and the link. On a computer, Matchai shows a list of apps to share it with.

## Hide your card [#hide-your-card]

In **My card**, turn off **Card is public**. Matchai confirms with **Your card is hidden**.

While it is hidden, scanning the code shows nothing, and the contact file cannot be downloaded. If you tap the code, Matchai reminds you that **Your card is not public yet** and offers **Turn it on**.
