# Location

> Set or change a listing's address and map, see what visitors see, and write the neighbourhood description.

Source: https://matchai.co/docs/guide/listings/location

A listing's location is its address, its place on the map and a short description of the neighbourhood. You set the address when you create the listing, and you can change it at any time.

## Change the address [#change-the-address]

<Steps>
<Step>
Open the listing from **Listings** and choose **Edit**.
</Step>
<Step>
Go to the **Location** section, where the map is. On a computer, select **Location** in the list on the left.
</Step>
<Step>
In the **Property address** field above the map, start typing the address.
</Step>
<Step>
Pick the right address from the suggestions. Matchai shows **Updating location...**, moves the map, then confirms with **Location updated**.
</Step>
</Steps>

A listing with no address yet shows **Add location** under its title in edit mode. Select it to go straight to the address field.

Each suggestion is a real place with an exact position on the map. Choosing one is what lets Matchai place the pin, show the area around the property, and give search engines and AI assistants an address they can trust. Text typed by hand cannot be placed on a map, so Matchai asks for a suggestion every time.

## What visitors see [#what-visitors-see]

- **Under the title,** a short line with the neighbourhood, the area, the city and the region, without the street.
- **Above the map,** the full address: the street on the first line, then the city, the region and the postal code.
- **The map,** with a pin on the property showing its cover photo. Visitors can select the map to open a larger one, switch to **Satellite**, and show **Transit**, **Food & drink**, **Shops** and **Parks** nearby.

The street address is never translated. A visitor reading your listing in French or Spanish sees it exactly as it is written.

## Keeping the address private [#keeping-the-address-private]

There is no setting to hide the street address or to show an approximate location. On a published listing, the full address and the exact pin are public, and search engines and AI assistants can read them.

If a seller does not want the address shown yet, keep the listing as a draft until they agree. Drafts are visible only to you and the people who can edit the listing. See [publish and visibility](https://matchai.co/docs/guide/listings/publish-and-visibility).

## The neighbourhood description [#the-neighbourhood-description]

When Matchai's AI creates a listing, it looks at what is near the address, such as cafés, schools, parks and transit, and writes a few sentences about life in the area. You find them in the listing's **Neighbourhood** section.

To change the description, choose **Edit**, go to **Neighbourhood**, and edit the text. If the section is empty, start writing where it says "Describe what it's like to live in this neighbourhood...". It saves as you go.

<Callout title="Why it works this way">
Matchai uses the places it finds to write a precise description, such as a café around the corner or the metro a few minutes' walk away. It does not copy them onto the listing as a list. The map already shows nearby places and keeps them current, while a list written once would slowly go out of date.
</Callout>

**If you change the address later,** the neighbourhood description stays as it was. Update it yourself so it describes the new area.

To add photos of the area, see [neighbourhood photos](https://matchai.co/docs/guide/listings/photos-and-media#neighbourhood-photos).
